Lone Oryx

P.NAMIB-82

A Lone Oryx Makes His Way Past a Large Dune in the Namib Desert

Nowhere else on earth does life exist in such harsh conditions. The oldest desert in the world, where daytime temperatures may reach 70 degrees Celsius (126 F). Here grass seeds and plant matter get deposited by the wind and the moisture carried in by the fog. The oryx is one of the only antelopes that has an ability to survive in waterless areas. It survives by digging up roots and bulbs, filling its water needs.
